PERFORMANCE TEAM PLACES IN TOP 5 AT USA NATIONAL CHEERLEADING COMPETITION!
Four members of the San Diego Sockers Performance Team competed at USA
Cheerleading Nationals last weekend. Mike, Kari, Kyle and Adrienne traveled
to Las Vegas to represent the Sockers at the February 9th-10th competition
held in the Cashman Center. Showcasing their acrobatic talents against
partner-stunting teams from across the country, Kyle and Adrienne placed
4th and Mike and Kari placed 5th in the nation in the partner-stunting
category. Congratulations to them for their success!
PRE-COMPETITION
PRESS RELEASE:
The
San Diego Sockers Performance Team is the hottest new professional entertainment
squad in San Diego. The highly talented acrobats and gymnasts are paid
to cheer and perform at all San Diego Sockers home games and have quickly
become fan favorites.
On
February 9 & 10, four members of the team will travel to Las Vegas to
compete at USA Cheerleading Nationals, hoping to bring the "partner
stunting" championship title home to San Diego.
But
what exactly is a "partner stunt" cheerleading competition? Unlike a
standard competition category, with all-team routines and crowd leading,
a partner stunt team consists of one cheerleading "couple"-one guy and
one gal. In this division, one won't see standard stunts that almost
any entry-level cheerleader can do. The crowd will be dazzled with elite,
eye-popping acrobatics, many of which involve holding the flyer up with
one hand!
The
Sockers Performance Team will be sending two couples to the United Spirit
Association College Nationals: Kyle Triba with Adrienne Stone; and Mike
Proctor with Kari Kornblau. Because the Sockers are a professional sports
team and are not affiliated with a college or university, they will
be competing in the All-Star college division against cheer programs
that exist solely to compete. Be sure to show up in Las Vegas to catch
the excitement. With their unique ability and extensive training, the
Sockers Performance Team is bound to take top prize!
